Arik is a graduate of the University of Oregon. He graduated with his Bachelors degree in Exercise and Movement Science
with a minor in Biology in 2001. During his undergraduate program he was a member of the University’s Rowing team. He
then graduated with his Master’s degree in Human Physiology, with a concentration in Biomechanics, in 2003.
Arik is an advanced certified Neurokinetic Therapist, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Functional
Movement Screen (FMS), Kinetic Integrations Exercise Professional (KIEP), SKOGG Kettlebell, and USRowing level III Advanced
Coach. He has over 20 years’ experience in the fitness, health and wellness industries including: correctional rehabilitation,
instruction at the community college, university and post-secondary levels, coaching crew at the high school and collegiate
level, personal training, corporate wellness and exercise physiology for the REX Wellness Center in Raleigh, NC.
Arik has been the Director and Lead Instructor at a few National Personal Training Institute locations. He now serves as the
Director and Lead Instructor at NationalPTI, Hawaii. As his experiences grow, Arik realizes his passion lies in helping others
become the leading professionals in the fitness, health and wellness industry.

Alan Wiest has been teaching Health, Physical Education and Exercise Science since 2001. With a Bachelor’s and
a Master’s Degree in Exercise and Movement Science from the University of Oregon, Alan has dedicated his life
to educating the world’s next best and brightest fitness professionals. Alan also takes tremendous pride in
inspiring Health and Physical Education students to make progress towards healthier behaviors and to aspire to
live a life full of outdoor adventure and activity.
Alan was introduced to the National Personal Training Institute (NationalPTI) in 2007, fell in love with the
program and was part of the team that brought the NationalPTI to North Carolina. Alan served as a lead
instructor for the NationalPTI between 2007 and 2012, he has directed multiple NationalPTI schools throughout
the south and continues to collaborate with NationalPTI leaders across the country.
Alan is currently the Fitness Trainer Program Chair and a Tenured Health and Physical Education Professor at
Clark College in Vancouver, WA. An avid hiker and climber, Alan aspires to climb the highest mountain in each
of the 50 US states (currently has completed 38!); he loves living in the Pacific Northwest. Alan cherishes
spending time with his beautiful wife and loved ones; he is thankful for his health and happiness, and grateful
for the gift of life. One of Alan’s favorite quotes is:
